Mary Katranzou SS10

Mary Katranzou SS10 collection evolved in a vein that looked like a natural development. In her previous lines the research images stemed from vintage perfume bottles, this year, the starting point came from that of blown glass. The technicolours psychedelic prints are just as moreish and to die for. Here are a few of my favourite pieces:

The jewellery all blown glass, and very very very heavy to hold... But oh so beautiful, i would sacrifice the mobility of both my hands, just to have one or several on each arm.

Islands In The Stream....

Well, the high street is thoroughly impressing me, bowling me over left right and center. Now with the high fashion press days, you had either seen the collection at the shows or online, so you know what you're going to see. In the presence of Chanel, Louis Vuitton or Prada, i get the same "bowled over" feeling, but knowing fully well that i might be able to afford maybe one piece from the whole collection. God bless the British high street. River Island designs are becoming more and more trend led and fashion relevant, offering purse friendly alternatives to the high end counterparts. Here are my favourites from River Island press day:
Janitor style coats: There are a few of these coming up in AW09 from RI and i have already noticed a few in store. I really like the idea of these oversized jackets, but they just don't work on me as i have broad shoulders. Boooo to my bad genes!
Both above have that great Balmain look. Its great to see that the high street have taken inspiration from that show. I think it is probably one of my favourite looks on the high street at the moment, that and the nautical look (which i am showing a slow death, in my everyday wardrobe). I need to get me that jacket before i am off to the Milan and Paris menswear shows!
Military/Nautical (ish) inspired jacket (modelled by the fabulous River Island PR, Arieta)
Mary Katrantzou style oversized tee. I think you all know how much i covet her collection. Great print!

D&G, Mary Katrantzou (again!!) and Emilio De La Morena

I have got so much to show and tell, it has just been so blooming busy....where do i start....Here goes, here are my 'Best of' last week press days that i didn't get a chance to post, so i feel up to date...

I was lucky enough to go down to the D&G press day. Now some of you may remember my admiration, inspection and salivation and absolute head over heels lust i exhibited last month after they debuted at Milan fashion week. Well the collection is even more "OMFG" in real life. I felt like a small girl in a fancy dress shop. I never ever thought i was the kind of girl to really be into "period" themed collections. This collection had a very heavy baroque influence running through it with full skirts, applique, heavy brocade fabrics, etc. I am always one for trying things new trends out and i try not to snub at first glance (except for harem pants a year ago- i am now eating my words as i own own a pair and looking for more). But i never thought i would imagine myself sporting a chesterfield pattern bubble skirt or bust, or even a brocade ruffle collar jacket, but i do. I do! And the shoes.... The platforms were so high, you can not fully comprehend the height in this picture but suffice to say "Amazonian Baroque Goddess" comes to my head!
My first introduction to this designer came at the press day- Emilio De La Morena. I was very much impressed. Great use of colour, which i love. Its no Celia Blue of course, but its definitely one i can see myself sporting this summer. The dress pictured on the right had the beaded panel going down the middle and then the side panel was totally sheer but in the same colour. A dress to make a definite statement, a "Look at me" statement which i love!
I posted about Mary Katrantzou's AW09 collection the day after she showed at London fashion week and i was lucky enough to see the collection up close and personal last week. It is as incredible as i imagined. The prints are so sharp on the dresses and the colours so delectable, something i am still hankering and craving for. Will someone put me out of my misery? I would love to see a collaboration with Topshop, some more affordable pieces on the high street... One to look out for i wonder?

My London fashion week womenswear loves...

Fashion week came to an end yesterday and although it was amazing and i had so much fun at the shows and at the countless parties. I am completely and utterly exhausted so i have spent the whole day on the couch surfing the net scowering catwalking.com and style.com to see some of the shows i missed during fashion week.
Amongst all of the show on during the mamoth 6 days in london i will have to say that i am sad i missed these shows:Mary Katrantzou: So incredible, i just loved the whole collection. Every single piece i wish i could have. The prints are incredible and the colour, oh so sumptious!
Peter Piloto: So clever, again, i love the 'interuption' print. Saw lots of fashionistas at the shows wearing last seasons dresses. Hopefully i will be wearing this next LFW....
Meadham Kirchhoff: Awww, this was soo cool, mostly B&W collection but i loved the ripped jeans and ripped shirt look. Some of the looks were teamed with oversized bomber jackets and some really cute bandage style mini dresses.
Louise Goldin: I dont even know where to start, this woman is so talented. This season adding the leather trend to her signature knit.
Danielle Scutt: Need i saw more, i mean look at it, great, i could see myself in this and i love the leather gloves too. Scutt also showed a brilliant large oversized fitted ankle length coat.
Have a look online they are all so irresistable. Will have to start saving my pennies for when the items come up for sale in August! What do you think of these?
