Acne AW10- Star Wars the Clone Wars

It is that time of year again! Deep breath in through the nose and out through the mouth....

Mmmmm, look at the piled on bangles, love the copper colour, mixed with the pewter. This season Acne are again working with jewellery designer Husam El Odeh.

Jonny Johansson has taken inspiration for this collection this season, from an unlikely source that is Star Wars:
"My sons are completely obsessed with Star Wars and i have to watch and live it everyday, so for this season, I created an aesthetic based around Star Wars the Clone Wars. I am not doing it because i have a choice, it has completely penetrated my world..."
The Acne founder sourced inspiration from the colour palette and the shapes and silhouettes of the movies. He continued last season themes of spirituality an astronomy with the shows make-up direction (huge metallic bindi-like spots on the forehead) and the long and floaty romantic and nomad-like silhouette.
I am in love with the crazy almost nomadic tertiary print of the balloon trousers in the picture above, and teaming the voluminous trouser with the thin spoke heel. Great silhouette...

*COUGH* Erm... please take a look at the shoes (below) that stole the show and my heart! A slouchy, fur lined, leather ankle boot with an incredible caterpillar like tread, with only 4 grooves at the sole...! To die for! Acne's shoes seem to get better and better every year. It never ceases to amaze!

Strangely love the silhouette of the voluminous trouser tucked into the wide boot. It almost reminds me of seeing some teenage girls wearing pyjama bottoms as outer wear and having them tucked into (those horrendously ghastly) Ugg boots! I hate that look, and i hate Ugg boots! But i most certainly like this look..

Love that Acne have again repeated the floor length tube dress silhouette, i am really enjoying that, and looking forward to enjoying it even more over the summer!

The collection was spot on with a perfect mix of fabrics and textures, from sheepskin, suede and wool to drapey silks to reworked and hard looking leather. I am very much looking forward to dissecting the looks more and taking them out of context and making them very personal. I cant wait to get a closer look at them at the press day. Watch this space for a more detailed look...

Armani press day- SS10

This is a bit late as you might know that the Armani press day happened a few weeks ago, but i have been super busy shooting various things (fashion-wise, i don't mean bears and deer). There will be lots of behind the scenes images to come later, but i am now going to follow with my favourite pictures from the press days to date. If i could fill my life with all of these, i would be a happy woman*.
Hope you enjoy...

Brilliant bubble gum and pop-tastic colours seen in the accessories. All very summery.
I loved this beaded-mesh-y number. Ticks many of my favourite boxes...
Leather fringe (ra-ra) shorts. Pretty snazzy no? If i were a boy (in the words of Beyonce herself) i would definitely be running around London town in those (with my legs a-kimbo like the mannequin)!
I love a bit of tasseled rope around the neck. A bit like a glamorous noose...
Amazing jelly gladiator sandals
Is it an Espadrille? Is it a sneaker? Whatever it is, i love it!
Celia Blue- haven't seen too much of that colour in much of the SS10 womenswear trends. I love the high shine and gloss of the leather on this bag, the colours really compliment each other.
Lady Ga-Ga product placement....?
A bit of bling... Well actually, a lorra bling!
Jelly, wedge heel espadrilles!

* I do realise that money and materialistic things such as these cant give you happiness, but they do help on the way!

Ill be A|wear-ing it!

A new brand and a new means of myself squandering my hard-earned cash on much needed frivolous fashion has recently come under my radar. By new I mean recently under my radar. Said brand that I have been shouting high and low to anyone that would listen, is Dublin based womenswear fashion brand a rival to Topshop as I have been told by those who know A|wear. The season of Christmas press day came and went almost as silently as that proverbial tree falling in an empty forest, if I wasn’t there it didn’t happen. I did manage to make time from shooting, writing and costume making… (blog post to come) to pop over to the Yellow-Door press day (Yellow door deal with my favourite of favourites Acne)- Would I have missed that for anything? The answer is no, not for a thing!

A|wear “a high street brand with a boutique heart” really did impress me with the directional and on trend pieces on show, items similar to that of fashion forward Topshop but at a fraction of the price. In the showroom my wide open eyes darted from a fitted blood red winter coat to a Chanel style cardigan and I am happy to say I am now also the owner of my very own piece of A|wear. This lovely studded clutch. I feel like I am part of something new and exciting. If anyone asks me where did you get that bag, I will say with pride A|wear!

Here is a top 5 of key items I will be after in the next coming weeks:

Naughty in Nautical....

Following my promise to reveal all things brilliant from Press days. Here is a picture taken of myself by Rubbish Blog editor, and great friend of mine, Kila at the Arcadia press day.
Bar the red-eye, i think blended in to the other mannequins perfectly. For the past 3 months i have been seriously sporting the nautical look. Basically my recent outfits have been anchored around the pendant pictured (pun intended) and a series of different style horizontal stripe tops. I will soon tire of it, i know, but until then "anchors away"

My Outfit: Scarf by APC, Blazer by ASOS, Bag by Gap, Necklace by Jean Charles de Castelbajac, Top by H&M, Shorts by Topshop, Shoes by Office

Slack Blogger....

It suddenly struck me about 3 minutes ago that i have been so slack on presenting my press day finding to the lovely readers of Celia Loves, and there have been so many in the past few weeks, especially from the high street front. I don't know what i have been doing to let things slide so much- well actually i do know what i have been doing... I have been so darn busy traipsing across London attending the press days, and working myself tired. Between Buckstyle relaunching, shooting and writing for Dazed Digital and preparing my shoots for My-Wardrobe.com i barely have the time to eat let alone blog and for this i apologise. To follow in the next few days will be my findings over the past 2-3 weeks, and only the finding i will ever put forward to share with you are things i love...

Press day!

The busy season of press days begins today. To those that do not know, press days are a time, normally a month after the major fashion weeks, when the clothes from the catwalk are displayed in the showrooms for press to come and see the upcoming collections. The days are normally fun, if not very hectic as a lot of labels and PR companies choose their press days on the same days, so you spend the days running from showroom to showroom to showroom. So today there were 3 which, luckily, were at the same venue: Armani, Luella and DKNY jeans on some days coming ahead, there are 12 in one day!

Its great to be able to meet up with the PRs and catch up on the latest news and gossip. Some PR you spend and age communicating via email and only ever get to meet face-to-face once or twice a year at shows or press days. Other treats include yummy canapes, drinks and then at the end a lovely goody bag. Press days season starts on the 30th March and goes on til 21st May. I will keep you posted on the highlights of the days, there will be lots of things i LOVE i am sure...
