Prada AW09

From all the falling in love i seem to be doing this past press day season, you'd think the pain in my knees from all the impact of my love-falling and head-over-heel trips, you would think that would have prepared me for the brilliance of Prada AW09... Well it didn't, I fell so hard.
Seeing the collection simply online and on the catwalk is never the same as actually standing and holding the garments physically in your hands. Here are a few of my favourite pieces:
Velvet high waisted shorts (They looked a bit like batty-riders- so cool)
Absolutely loving this colour, you can not completely see it in this picture i took, it looks a lot more ketchup red, but in fact it is a more crimson red. An amazing colour that packed as much punch as Celia Blue (do i detect a rival)...
Gorgeous sequined Low V dress. And so so heavy to hold.
My favourite look on the catwalk. The thigh/fanny skimming boots i posted on a few months ago. See below for my new favourite boots.
Cute Knee highs. The socks are detachable and there were a few variations in colour ways.

Loving the studded heels, especially the fringing around the ankles of the black pair!

Leather studded skull caps at Miu Miu Accessories AW09

Well it is looking like studs are hear to stay for one more season. I was very pleased to find a large selection of studded fashion goods at the Miu Miu press day. My favourite being the leather studded skull caps! I have been a fan of leather and stud trend for a while, owning a few items of the sort. I wonder if i will ever be able to upgrade from my River Island purchase i made in November last year.But really do i need to? At just £34.99, it seems a bargainer's delight and such a credit crunch friendly price to the Miu Miu alternative. Seeing as i bought this 5 months ago and Miu Miu are showing it in their upcoming AW09 range, does this mean high street has gotten ahead of high fashion...? Never thought the day would come... River Island have been doing a good job recently, especially in their fantastically designed womenswear accessories (special note to their brilliant shoes especially) and up to the minute and on-trend fashions. The brand once in my mind for poorly designed clothes and poor quality, have turned that around a lot and there are so many covetable pieces i want, need and love.
Nevertheless i think i will still going to hold out for the Miu Miu leather skull cap, although i do not know how i am going to work it with my large quiff?

You can barely see them in this bad quality photo courtesy of my iPhone, but you can make out the remarkableness of the jeans. My heart actually flitted/skipped a beat when i clapped eyes on them! I will do everything in my power to procure these by the end of SS09!

Back-to-front-to-back shoes and Pier Atkinson

These are by Romeo Pires. I was been shown around by the lovely PR, and we got to these shoes and my mind did some really weird thing. I didn't understand, i didn't like them, i did like them, i hated them, i loved them, i... i.... *brain explode*
I had to try them on, and surprisingly comfortable would you believe. I think my mind has settled, and i do like them! Would really mess with peoples mind wearing them waiting at a bus stop or something! Ha! Well done Romeo Pires!I have been meaning to post about Pier for a while, i have used a few of his headdresses in a few shoots recently. They are so fun, and the new collection takes inspiration from Barbie, anything to do with Barbie's 50th birthday celebration that has been taking place for the past 4 months? I especially love Barbie's backcombed, teased, electrocuted hair, something i sometimes aspire and model my hair styles on! His collections are a mix of head pieces, masks, hats and fascinators.

D&G, Mary Katrantzou (again!!) and Emilio De La Morena

I have got so much to show and tell, it has just been so blooming busy....where do i start....Here goes, here are my 'Best of' last week press days that i didn't get a chance to post, so i feel up to date...




I was lucky enough to go down to the D&G press day. Now some of you may remember my admiration, inspection and salivation and absolute head over heels lust i exhibited last month after they debuted at Milan fashion week. Well the collection is even more "OMFG" in real life. I felt like a small girl in a fancy dress shop. I never ever thought i was the kind of girl to really be into "period" themed collections. This collection had a very heavy baroque influence running through it with full skirts, applique, heavy brocade fabrics,etc. I am always one for trying things new trends out and i try not to snub at first glance (except for harem pants a year ago- i am now eating my words as i own own a pair and looking for more). But i never thought i would imagine myself sporting a chesterfield pattern bubble skirt or bust, or even a brocade ruffle collar jacket, but i do. I do! And the shoes.... The platforms were so high, you can not fully comprehend the height in this picture but suffice to say "Amazonian Baroque Goddess" comes to my head!
My first introduction to this designer came at the press day- Emilio De La Morena. I was very much impressed. Great use of colour, which i love. Its no Celia Blue of course, but its definitely one i can see myself sporting this summer. The dress pictured on the right had the beaded panel going down the middle and then the side panel was totally sheer but in the same colour. A dress to make a definite statement, a "Look at me" statement which i love!
I posted about Mary Katrantzou's AW09 collection the day after she showed at London fashion week and i was lucky enough to see the collection up close and personal last week. It is as incredible as i imagined. The prints are so sharp on the dresses and the colours so delectable, something i am still hankering and craving for. Will someone put me out of my misery? I would love to see a collaboration with Topshop, some more affordable pieces on the high street... One to look out for i wonder?

Auntie Celia

Today i spent the day with my sister who is 6.5 months pregnant. It was a lovely day and we had a lovely time together as it was the first proper day i have hung out with my sister properly since i found out she was up-the-duff! We spent the day baby shopping, which i found out today is no where near as fun as normal shopping. I guess it was fun for my sis as it must be exciting preparing for a bundle of joy to enter the world quite soon, but for me there is only so much excitement and joy i can get out of a large pram selection. So whilst browsing for breast pumps, pacifiers, changing mats, pram covers, moses basket mattresses, feeding bottles, musical mobiles and other such items i saw this cute little number (note the tag says 'Bimbo', i am not sure what to think of that).... My sister says tacky, i say cute! Has a certain Luella SS08 element to it. What do you think...? I think Auntie Celia knows best....

That Carolyn Massey Cape...

I posted about a month ago at the end of London Fashion Week, and in particularly i posted about the menswear day and more in particularly the brilliance of the Carolyn Massey show. Well i was lucky to be invited to the opening private view of her Reflect Forward exhibition on at the Crafts Council until the 25th April. This was also an opportunity for friends and family and people personally invited to make personal orders, i think at a third of the RRP, which turned out to be a total success. The drinks were flowing, orders we being scribbled down left right and center, and my attention turned to 'that cape'-
So i tried it on. And fell in love. All attention in the room turned to me and, prompted by Carolyn herself, i proceeded to turn the exhibition space into my own catwalk. 5 embarrassing seconds later, my Naomi Campbell moment was over. And then thought developed onto me placing an order. My common sense got the better of me that night as i do not, and should never trust my drunken spur-of-the-moment, might-regret-that-tomorrow-morning, my-bank-manager will shoot-me decisions. A few days later i have nursed that hangover and am now nursing a brand new one from last night and my thought have returned to 'that cape'. Should i get it?

Scholl....??

Yes that's right Scholl. As in party feet and and dry cracked heel repair, as in granny clogs in a nursing home and comfort over style. Well it looks like the brand is shedding that image for a more high fashion look. I was so surprised when i set my eyes on these babies, in fact my jaw dropped (These shoes can now be described as 'Jaw dropping-ly Beautiful', you can quote me)! I couldn't believe how beautiful these were, these would look great next to my growing collection of statement shoes.... "Hey come over here and look at my lovely shoe collection: My Stella McCartney's, my Vivienne Westwoods, my Miu Miu's, my Scholl's.....?" Hmm, doesn't quite have that certain ring to it. And the pricing i hear is a little bit on the steep side... Around £400 for the pictures styles... Eeek!

Agent Provocateur- nipple tassels. I have been toying with the idea of a summer look being a sheer top and just nipple tassels underneath......Hmmm...

Press day- Day 3

Yesterday was day 3 of press day mania. It was tough, I had aching balls (on my feet) by lunch time, and by the end of the day, i was totally fed up. I mustn't complain really, the sun was shining as i set off starting the day with 5 PR companies east. By number 3, we were on the Bollinger (dah-rling) and this was about 1pm. The trudge moved west stopping of at another 5 PR companies. Along the way i made lots of observations of things that made me go WOW WOW WOW. Posts to follow.
